Virginia Trip

June 1, 2022- June 6, 2022

We flew to Washington DC on Wednesday, June 1st. It was a rough day. We got to the airport in plenty of time but try to order breakfast at the Starbucks there. After waiting 30 minutes for our order we asked what was holding it up only to find the order had been placed at a different Starbucks on the other side of the airport. That left us rushing to get to the plane on time without any breakfast. Since we didn’t get to the plane early Frank did not get his handicap boarding and had to wait in a long line which is hard on him. We got into DC right at rush hour. We hopped on the toll road and made it down to Virginia and checked into our hotel before heading to our son’s house to have dinner and see our grandchildren It was fun visiting and playing a game of Old Maid with them.

On Thursday we both woke up sick and spent the whole day in our hotel. Our son brought us some crackers and frank bought Sprite from the hotel. It was a lousy way to spend our first day here. We had planned to drive up to Washington DC and do some touring and go through the open house for the Washington DC temple.

Luckily we felt better on Friday and were able to help with the baptism prep for our granddaughter. We spent the day hanging out and visiting. We got to go to the lake in their neighborhood and watch the grandchildren swim. Then out to dinner at IHOPS.

On Saturday we got up bright and early and went to our son’s house to help fill cupcakes and frost them for the baptism. We was a beautiful day and our granddaughter was so excited to be baptized and confirmed by her dad. We were grateful we could be there and be a part of the day. In the evening we went out to dinner with our daughter-in-law’s family before heading back to our hotel.

On Sunday we went to church with our son and his family. Then over to their house for dinner and to spend a little time before saying our goodbyes. It is always hard to leave the grandkids. Even their dog seemed sad to see us go.

On Monday we flew back to Houston. We left our hotel at 8 am and I am glad we did. We got on the Expressway but there was an accident and we were stuck for almost an hour. Then we got lost trying to make up time and lost more time. We arrived just in time for our flight. We had to change planes in New Orleans and since our plane for Washington DC was running late we only had 20 minutes to hop off our plan run to the next gate and hop on the next plane. Finally got home, unpacked and settled in.
