April 2, 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well this week was time to get back on track and on our route to travel around the perimeter of the United States. California weather is looking a little better and although we still have to skip Yosemite, Sequoia, and King\u2019s Canyon due to weather issues, we will be able to head up and see the Redwoods in the next couple weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\/27 \u2013 It was laundry, groceries and nails day. Frank hung around the campground working while I did running around to get everything done. I enjoyed a dip in the pool at our campground. With the temperatures in the 70\u2019s here at Lake Havasu, Arizona and the pool heated to 85 in our 50+ years campground it was a nice swim. Our RV cat Teddi likes to hide his toys and when we were moving from the old rig to the new we forgot to look in his old hiding places so his toys got left behind. He let us know he was bored and needed some new toys so one of my stops today was a pet store to get him some new toys. We do enjoy having our RV cat. He seems to enjoy traveling and just sleeps on the bed, couch or under the table when we are going down the road. If we travel for more than three hours he will come up front to let us know that maybe it is time for a break. Once we stop he looks at us like we\u2019re finally  done and it\u2019s to hang out for a while. He has a face that looks like a resting frown but we know he is a happy cat as he rubs up against us and lets us know how much he enjoys traveling with us. He is always waiting on the passenger seat next to the door when we return from our adventures and lets us know that it\u2019s about time we got back. The nice thing about our RV is when we are not plugged in at a campground, our RV has a sensor that lets it know it has reached a temperature we have set and it will automatically turn on the generator and run the air so we don\u2019t have to worry about him getting to hot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\/28- This evening Frank and I went on a Sunset boat tour. As we traveled we saw some of the many miniature lighthouse and then saw more over the next few days as we kept looking. Lake Havasu had 28 models of actual lighthouse from around the nation. They are located around the lake and on Lake Havasu Island. The ones on the west side of the lake are modeled after lighthouses on the West Coast and have green beacons. The ones on the east side of the lake are modeled after lighthouses on the East Coast and have red light.  The ones scattered around the island are modeled after lighthouses on the Great Lakes. https:\/\/www.arizonahighways.com\/article\/lake-havasu-city-lighthouses<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our tour we were with a small group of 20 people and the guide was so informative on the history of Lake Havasu. She took a picture of each group with their own cameras so we would have memories to take with us. Then we took one of ourselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On our sunset tour we left early enough to view Copper Canyon and even saw a Coyote watching us travel down the Canyon. You could see where at one time the canyon was pulled apart by an earthquake as one rock on one side of the canyon match the one on the other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then it was back down to the lake where we able to watch the sunset and see the gorgeous the colors over the water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we headed back to the dock we were able to see the London Bridge lite up. 3\/29- We had to change campsites today so we moved over to Crazy Horse Campground for the next couple days. We are on the island and our RV is parked near the water. We have an amazing view out the front window of our RV. We explored the island and rested and relaxed around the RV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\/30- Sometimes the adventures are the places we go and see, and other times the adventure is just enjoying a quiet day in the campground and admiring the view. Today was a lazy hang around the campground and explore the view kind of day. We did head into town so we could both get haircuts as we were looking kind of shabby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\/31- We had stayed the extra days at Lake Havasu because we really wanted to take a boat tour up the Colorado River and they were booked out until today. It was really worth the extra days here just to experience this tour. Our tour was 2 \u00bd hours up the Topock Gorge. Tomorrow we will be driving over the Colorado on Interstate 40 where our tour ended. We found that we enjoyed being outside on the boat taking pictures and seeing more scenery than we enjoyed our front row seats inside. We saw Devil\u2019s Elbow and sheep grazing in the hills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thing we were most excited to see were the Indian Petroglyphs that are at least 3,500 years old.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4\/1- We were finally ready to attempt to travel into California and up into the Central Valley and Bay Area. We left Arizona today and traveled to Boron, California. There we were able to visit the Twenty Mule Team Museum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man at the museum told us we could actually drive up to the plant and see the mine so off we headed to the visitor center at the Boron Mine. The mine is 1 \u00be miles wide and almost 2 miles long and 755 feet deep. They mine 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Not only is boron, that\u2019s used in cleaners, fertilizers and other things, they are also mining Lithium.  We were able to climb to the roof or the visitor\u2019s center to peer down into the mine. https:\/\/www.borax.com\/about\/borax-operations\/boron-california<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4\/2- Today was another drive day. We hate having two long drive days in a row because it wears us out. We prefer to stay a few days at a place, travel a day and stay a few days at another place. So by the time we got into our campground in Paso Robles we were ready to just sit down and do nothing for the rest of the day. The roads where very rough due to damage from all the rains, but the state of California is so green right now and covered in wild flowers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
