On the first of October we picked up our new RV from the dealership. Drove it over to Sara and Edwin’s to show them and take them for a drive. Daniel and Claire were sure excited to ride in it. Then brought it home to see if it would fit in our driveway. Luckily it does just barely.
We immediately started putting together a list of things we will need for our RV. We order some from Amazon and other we bought at Sports Authority. Packed up the RV with some things before taken it over to the storage place we had found in town. It is a safe place to keep the RV when we aren’t out on the road. Then immediately started planning a camping trip for next weekend. We decided going on a short trip will give us the chance to try it out and work through any problems before taking a big trip.
We went and picked up the motor home from storage on October 7th and brought it home so we can get it packed and ready for our trip to Galveston. Then on Saturday, October 9th we had the RV packed and ready to go on our first trip. We picked up Hana at the Music School at 2 pm when she got off work and headed to Galveston. We are staying at Stella Mare campground and were a bit disappointed because it is not near the beach so we will have to drive and find parking if we want to spend time at the beach. Of course we quickly realized we had not packed some things we need. The campground is very nice otherwise. We spent the rest of the evening, exploring, relaxing and hanging out.

I love RVing again! We have really missed it. The weather here has been beautiful. Sara and Edwin and family came down on Sunday, October 10th in the evening. We went out to dinner with them and to the beach for a bit. We were glad we could fit everyone in their van so we didn’t have to take the RV. We found out that having the RV without a tow vehicle makes it difficult to get around to places. You have to unhook and find a big enough place to park when you get there With Sara and Edwin and their car here we were also able to get the few things from the store that we needed. Then Sara and Edwin headed out on their vacation and we have Claire and Daniel camping with us. Sara and Edwin had brought the kids bikes so they could ride around the campground and they enjoyed it for a bit. Daniel wasn’t feeling great but wanted to ride his bike to the RV park playground to play. He ended up throwing up and but felt better right after. Sara thought it might be car sickness. The kids hung out and rested this evening and watched some TV. Daniel and Clare are sleeping on the table made into a bed and Hana is sleeping in one of the bunks.

Well Monday, October 11th was a full day at the RV park. For breakfast we made chocolate chip pancakes and bacon. The kids rode their bikes a lot. We went to the park a couple times and even went swimming. This evening we grilled and after that the kids made s’mores.
On Tuesday, October 12th it was time to head back home. Hana took the kids to the park so they could play on it one last time and we could get the motor home packed up and ready to go. The kids rode their bikes down to the park. Once we were ready to go we only had to load their bikes in and head out. We stopped at the beach one last time so the kids could play in the ocean a bit. We struggled to find a place to park near the beach with the RV. We did quite a bit of driving around until we found a spot. After playing at the beach we used the outside shower to wash off everyone’s feet which was nice.

Then we heading out of Galveston which was interesting. We use Waze’s maps and it took us down a street with low hanging trees. We drove slowly and made it through but decided we needed to get a better navigational tool. We learned to never store anything in the shower we didn’t want to get wet. We had squeezed Daniel and Claire’s suitcases in there because we didn’t have anywhere else to put them. We had forgotten to turn off the water pump after washing everyone’s feet from the beach. Apparently one of the suitcase bumped against the shower knob and the shower ran most of the way home soaking everything in their suitcases. When we got home we got the RV unpacked and cleaned and ready to go back to storage. We survived our first trip in our new RV and are ready for many more!
